Lash Extension Curl Guide: Which Curl Does What
Direct answer: C is the everyday default, CC and D add visible lift (D is the most-ordered strong curl), L, LC and LD lift hooded and monolid eyes from a flat base, M is the strongest lift, and J and B are the most natural. The curl sets the lift; the thickness sets the weight.

Curl by curl
Curl is the letter on the tray: it describes how much the extension bends from base to tip. Read from J to M the lift increases; the L family is different in kind — a straight base first, then the lift — which is why it solves flat and hooded lash lines that a round curl cannot.

C vs D
Direct answer: C is natural lift and suits almost every client; D is strong lift that opens the eye. Studios use D where the map needs it — cat-eye corners, doll centres, downturned lift — and keep it out of the centre on round eyes and off upturned corners, where it overshoots into a startled look. If a brand stocks only two curls, it stocks C and D; CC is the third tray that covers the space between them.
L vs M — the correction curls
Both are built for lash lines that a C curl disappears on. L has a straight base that follows a flat or downward lash line before lifting, which is why hooded and monolid maps are built on L and LC. M is the strongest lift in the range, used in texture zones and to soften the outer corner on hooded eyes. Both belong in light diameters — a strong lift on a heavy lash reads harsh and loads the natural lash.

Pairing curl with thickness and length
The pairings studios order most from us: C and CC in classic 0.12–0.15 and volume 0.05–0.07 for everyday sets; D in volume 0.05–0.07 for open-eye and cat-eye maps; L, LC and M in the lightest diameters. Length is the third axis — see lash length by region for what each market buys.

C curl vs D curl — what is the difference?
Direct answer: D has a visibly stronger lift than C. C reads natural and suits most eye shapes and straight-to-slightly-curled natural lashes; D opens the eye and is used for dramatic sets or in the outer third of a cat-eye map. On round or already-upturned eyes, artists keep D out of the centre and cap curls at CC.
Which curl is best for hooded eyes?
