Modified cat-eye and squirrel are the two looks monolid eyes orders concentrate on in our production data — both built to clear a flat, creaseless lid, in light diameters on L and LC correction curls. Wispy adds texture without the weight. The looks first; the maps and the reasoning below.

The shape under the looks

The looks above are built on the geometry below. Tap a drawing for the reasoning.

no crease

The shape — monolid eyes+ why

Monolid Eyes, before any extensions. Smooth lid with no crease line between lash line and brow; lashes tend to grow straight or downward.

Why this build works on monolid eyes

The mapping logic is lift-first. L and LC curls kick up from a straight base where C curls fall flat; the inner corner stays minimal because the epicanthic fold can hide it entirely; and artists typically go one curl stronger than they would on a creased eye. Retention gets special handling too — monolid natural lashes are typically finer, and sebum transfer on flat lids fights the bond, so light diameters and careful adhesive work are standard.

The build — sample map+ how

Every look above is built from a zone map like this one — the zone structure of this shape’s natural-classic map, inner to outer, from our mapping matrix. Exact lengths, curls and thickness unlock in the Style Matcher below. This is one of fifteen maps we chart for this shape; the full set covers all five effects across classic, hybrid and volume.

How each effect behaves on monolid eyes

Natural lash extension style — applied set, client photo

Natural+ more

Offered for completeness, but industry guidance steers monolid clients toward modified cat or squirrel — the lid swallows a flat natural map.

Doll / Open-Eye lash extension style — applied set, client photo

Doll / Open-Eye+ more

For double-lid-leaning or mild coverage only; on heavy coverage a centre peak reads more closed, not more open.

Cat Eye lash extension style — applied set, client photo

Cat Eye+ more

The “modified cat-eye” — widely cited as the safest universal monolid map, in light diameters.

Squirrel lash extension style — applied set, client photo

Squirrel+ more

Frequently cited as the strongest monolid map: the peak clears the fold, one curl stronger than usual.

Wispy lash extension style — applied set, client photo

Wispy+ more

M-curl texture zones with spikes around +2mm — never mega-volume weight on a flat lid.

FAQ

Which lash styles suit monolid eyes?
Studio orders concentrate on the modified cat-eye and squirrel maps, both built on L/LC correction curls that lift from a straight lash line. Flat natural maps are the least effective — the lid swallows them.
What curls are used on monolids?
L and LC do the structural lifting, with M in texture zones. J and flat B curls are avoided outright — they get swallowed and make the eye look smaller.
Why do monolid sets need retention care?
Monolid natural lashes are typically finer, and flat lids transfer more sebum onto the bond area. Light diameters and micro-dot adhesive application are the standard countermeasures.
