Doll / open-eye is the signature correction look for wide-set eyes — the centre peak pulls visual weight inward and closes the apparent gap. Centre-shifted natural and squirrel sets do the same job more quietly. The looks first; the spacing-modifier builds behind them below.

The shape under the looks

The looks above are built on the geometry below. Tap a drawing for the reasoning.

The shape — wide-set eyes+ why

Wide-Set Eyes, before any extensions. The lid itself is usually a standard shape — the defining trait is spacing: more than one eye-width between the eyes.

Why this build works on wide-set eyes

The doll map is the signature wide-set correction — its centre peak draws focus inward and visually narrows the gap. The matching contraindication: cat-eye flares the outer corners and pulls the eyes further apart, so it is avoided on wide-set clients across the schools we track. The practical rule our charts encode: take the base shape’s map and shift its peak one zone inward.

The build — sample map+ how

Every look above is built from a zone map like this one — the zone structure of this shape’s doll / open-eye-classic map, inner to outer, from our mapping matrix — the one effect we chart natively for wide-set; the other four are charted on the close-set base, so mirror their peak one zone inward per the rule above. Exact lengths, curls and thickness unlock in the Style Matcher below. This is one of fifteen maps we chart for this shape; the full set covers all five effects across classic, hybrid and volume.

FAQ

Is wide-set a separate eye shape for lash mapping?
No — it is a spacing modifier on top of a base shape (almond, round, hooded and so on). Artists map the base shape first, then shift the peak one zone inward for wide-set spacing.
Which style corrects wide-set spacing?
Doll-direction maps: a centre peak pulls visual focus inward and narrows the apparent gap between the eyes.
Why is cat-eye avoided on wide-set eyes?
Flared outer corners move the visual weight outward — exactly the direction that makes wide-set spacing look wider.
