Hybrid Lashes: What a Hybrid Set Is and Which Trays It Uses
Direct answer: hybrid lash extensions mix classic one-to-one lashes with light volume fans of 2D–4D on the same eye. It is a technique, not a separate lash: the set is built from classic trays (usually 0.12 or 0.15mm) and fans (usually 0.05 or 0.07mm), in the same curl.

Classic vs hybrid vs volume
Hybrid sits between the two techniques a lash artist already knows. The classic lashes keep the line defined; the fans fill gaps between natural lashes and add texture. That is why clients who find classic too light and volume too full are usually offered a hybrid set.
| Set | How it is built | Typical diameters | Look |
|---|---|---|---|
| Classic | One extension on one natural lash | 0.10–0.20mm, mostly 0.12 / 0.15 | Defined, natural |
| Hybrid | Classic lashes mixed with 2D–4D fans | Classic 0.12 / 0.15 + fans 0.05 / 0.07 | Textured, fuller than classic |
| Volume | A fan of 2–8 lashes on every natural lash | 0.05 / 0.07 fans | Full, soft |
| Mega volume | Fans of 9–20 lashes | 0.02 / 0.03 fans | Dense, dramatic |
Which trays a hybrid set draws from
A hybrid set needs a classic tray and a fan source in the same curl. Which fan source an artist picks depends on speed and skill: ready-made fans are quickest, self-fanning trays are fast, hand-fanning from loose lashes gives the most control.
| Part of the set | Spec most artists reach for | LashPlus line |
|---|---|---|
| Classic part | 0.12 or 0.15mm, C or D curl, mixed-length trays | Classic lash extensions |
| Fan part, ready-made | 0.07mm premade fans, 2D–4D, same curl as the classic | Premade lash fans |
| Fan part, fast fanning | 0.05 or 0.07mm self-fanning easy fan, C or D | Easy fan lashes |
| Fan part, hand-made | 0.05 or 0.07mm loose volume lashes | Volume lashes |
Diameters as listed on each product page: classic 0.10–0.20mm · premade fans 2D–20D in 0.05 / 0.07 / 0.10mm · easy fan 2D–20D in 0.05 / 0.07 / 0.10mm · loose volume 0.05 / 0.07mm.
Matching the classic and the fans
- Same curl. A C-curl classic next to a D-curl fan breaks the line. Order both parts in the same curl.
- Same colour and finish. Matte black classic with matte black fans; for a softer hybrid, both in brown.
- Length from the lash map. The classic and the fans follow the same map; the full set of maps by eye shape is in our mapping guide.
- Diameter by weight. A 3D fan in 0.07 is heavier than a single classic lash, so keep fans light (2D–4D) on a hybrid set; the thickness guide explains why.
Stocking a hybrid range under your own brand
- Minimums: 100 trays per order, 5 trays per specification. A specification is one thickness × curl × length; a mixed-length tray counts as one specification.
- A starter hybrid range: classic 0.15 mixed-length plus premade 0.07 3D, each in C and D curl, is four specifications — 20 trays at the per-spec minimum, inside an order that reaches 100 trays.
- Same label on both parts: classic trays and fan trays carry your artwork, so the hybrid range sells as one line.
- Samples first: order up to 10 in-stock trays per round — next-day dispatch, custom specs in 3–8 days — with the fee credited in full on a wholesale order and doubled — up to US$50 — on a custom MOQ order (no order, no refund).
FAQ
What are hybrid lashes?
Direct answer: a hybrid lash set mixes classic extensions (one extension on one natural lash) with light volume fans (2D–4D) on the same eye. The classic lashes give definition, the fans fill gaps and add texture, so the result sits between a natural classic set and a full volume set.
What is the ratio of classic to volume in a hybrid set?
Direct answer: there is no fixed rule. Many artists work around half classic and half fans, and move the mix toward classic for a more natural look or toward fans for more fullness. The ratio is the artist's choice per client; the trays stay the same.
Which trays does a hybrid set use?
Direct answer: two kinds. Classic trays, usually 0.12 or 0.15mm, and light-volume fans, usually 0.05 or 0.07mm in 2D–4D, either premade fans or hand-made from loose volume lashes. Both should share the same curl so the set reads as one line.
Hybrid vs volume lashes: what is the difference?
Direct answer: a volume set puts a fan on every natural lash; a hybrid set puts fans on part of them and single classic lashes on the rest. Hybrid looks lighter and more textured than volume, and fuller than classic.
Can a brand sell a private-label hybrid range?
Direct answer: yes, as a set of classic and fan specifications under one label. The minimum is 100 trays per order and 5 trays per specification; a specification is one thickness × curl × length, and a mixed-length tray counts as one. A hybrid starter range of classic 0.15 plus premade 0.07 3D in C and D curl is four specifications.
Do premade fans work for hybrid sets?
Direct answer: yes. 2D–4D premade fans in 0.07mm are the quickest way to add the volume part of a hybrid set, because the artist picks a finished fan instead of fanning by hand. LashPlus premade fans run 2D–20D in 0.05, 0.07 and 0.10mm.
