What “private label” actually means
Private label means a factory manufactures the product and your brand sells it: your logo on the tray, your box, your insert cards, your spec. Within that there are two routes. OEM — you bring the design (a sample, a tech pack, or just a reference product) and the factory matches it. ODM — the factory develops the product from scratch and you brand it. Most first-time lash brands start OEM from a reference tray they already like; the process below is the same either way.
01 · Specs and quote — hours
You tell the factory what you want to sell: styles (classic, volume, premade fans, easy fan), thicknesses, curls, lengths, rows per tray, and roughly how many trays. You do not need a finished tech pack — a reference product, a competitor tray you like, or a plain description works. The factory answers with a per-order quote. At LashPlus a specification is one thickness × curl × length; a first order usually carries 3–5 specs, and the order minimum is 100 trays with 5 trays per spec.
02 · Samples in hand — next day – 8 days
Before any branded run, you hold the actual product. In-stock sample trays ship the next day (up to 10 per round); custom-spec samples take 3–8 days. Samples are paid, and the fee is credited in full against a wholesale order — doubled, capped at US$50, against a custom private-label order that meets MOQ. This step is where you judge curl, finish and softness; nothing that follows can fix a fiber you did not like.
03 · Artwork and free mockup — 1–3 days
You send a logo file and brand name; the factory builds a mockup of your tray, card and box — free, before you commit. You approve, tweak, or start over. The production clock starts only when your artwork is approved, so approval time is yours, not the factory’s.
04 · Production — 14–28 days, quantity-banded
Your approved sample becomes the production standard. Fiber is cut, curled and heat-set to spec — at LashPlus that means curl held to ±0.5 grade and length to ±0.5 mm against what you approved. The bands: 14–16 days for 100 boxes, 17–19 for 1,000, 24–28 for 10,000. Repeat orders run 2–3 weeks, because your specs and packaging are already locked.
05 · Packaging printed in parallel — inside the same window
Custom-printed trays, cards and boxes are produced against the same order while the lashes are made — packaging does not add time, and there is no separate packaging minimum. The one-time setup fee for a new brand’s print tooling applies on the first order only and is waived on reorders; label printing itself is free.
06 · Batch inspection and shipping — 3–35 days by lane
10% of every batch is inspected against your approved sample before anything is boxed; an off-spec batch is remade free, because a defective tray ships under your logo, not the factory’s. Then freight: DHL/FedEx 3–5 days, Eco Express 5–8, sea or rail 25–35 for bulk. Restocks ride the same lanes faster.
